Dorothy Alice (Bjork) Quaife
Dorothy
Quaife of Williams died March 14, 1985, in Baudette, MN.
Dorothy
Alice Bjork was born May 21, 1935 in Hiwood, Minnesota to David and Phoebe
Bjork. In 1936 her family moved to the Zippel Bay area and she grew up
there. She was married in 1952 and moved to Indiana in 1956, but came back
to Williams in 1963. She had made her home there since.
Dorothy
married Chester Quaife on October 10, 1952 in Williams, MN. She was a
housewife and a school bus driver.
Dorothy
was a person of many interests and when she was interested she followed
that interest through. She was interested in first aide and medical
treatment and was not satisfied until she became a trained EMT ambulance
attendant. She loved flowers and again her interest grew and grew until
she and Chet had not one but two greenhouses and many, many lovely plants
as well as cactus and bedding plants. They shared their plants with others
and took them to area flea markets. Dorothy shared many tips on growing
them with her friends. She drove a school bus for 16 years
for the Williams and consolidated Williams – Baudette School
Districts.
Her
husband Chester of Williams; her mother, Phoebe Shively of Florence,
Montana, and four sons, Darrel of Yuma, AZ; Ronald, Williams, MN; Daniel
of Ripley, TN; and Jeffery of Warroad, MN, survive Dorothy. Three sisters
also survive her. They are Vivian Peterson of Williams, MN; Jessie Turner
of Spokane, WA; and Karin Anderson of Condon, Montana. Two brothers also
survive, Ben Bjork of Florence, Montana, and John Bjork of Spokane, WA.
She has twelve grandchildren that survive her.
Her
father and one daughter preceded Dorothy in death.
Services
were held Tuesday, March 19, 1985 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bethany Lutheran
Church of Williams with Rev. Thyra M. Krier officiating. Interment will be
in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Williams, MN.
Pallbearers were Ben Bjork, John Bjork, Dan Quaife, Ron Quaife,
Jeff Quaife, Darrell Quaife, Greg Brown and Reginald Eisele.

G. Blaker
Forrest G. Blaker, 80, of Cedar Lake, IN,
passed away on Wednesday, April 18 2001 at the West Side V.A. Medical
Center, Chicago, IL.
He is survived by his
loving wife, Barbara (nee Quaife); one daughter, Judy Schontube of Cedar
Lake, IN; three sons: Forrest (Carolyn) Blaker of Pulaski, IN, David
Blaker of Griffith, IN and Wade (Pat) Blaker of LaPorte, IN; 10
grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Gertrude (Arnold)
Dierking of California and Beverly (Marvin) Harr of Salem, IL.
Preceded in death by one
daughter, Karen McColley.
Forrest was a retired
carpenter supervisor at Inland Steel Company and was a Navy veteran of
World War II. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and
great-grandfather. Cremation at Heritage Crematory. A Memorial Service

Yvonne Quaife died January 3, 2000. She
married Jerry Jerome Quaife at age 17. First born, Jerry Robert
(J.R.) of
Columbus, OH a year later. Then Lori of Valparaiso, IN & Michelle of
Logansport, IN 2 years apart. Their youngest, Brian of Griffith, IN came
15 years later. The oldest 3 children are married to Linda Quaife, Erv
Michalak & Pastor Jim Howard. Grandchildren include: Amanda Quaife,
Ervin & Tiffany Michalak & Jamie & Brian Howard. Burial Chapel
Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN.

Thelma M. Quaife of Sullivan, Missouri
passed away Thursday, September 7, 2000 at the age of 83 years.
Thelma was born January 14, 1917 at High
Gate, Missouri to the late Louie and Lula (Simpson) Spurgeon
She is survived by four daughters, Janet
Venson of Sullivan, Jerris Keller of Sierra Vita, Arizona, Pat Parks of
Davis, Oklahoma and Peggy Blagg of Doniphan, Missouri two sons, Johnny
Reeves of Fenton, Missouri, and Jim Reeves of Belton, Missouri, one
brother, George Spurgeon of Clarksville, Tennessee, three sisters, Cema
Garrison of Rolla, Missouri, Rozel Salts of St. James, Missouri, and
Genora Jost of Sullivan, 12 grandchildren 10 great-grandchildren
Along with her parents and husbands, Thelma
was preceded in death by one son Jackie Armstrong, four brothers and two
sisters.
Interment
was in High Gate Cemetery, St. James, Missouri

Thelma M. Quaife of Sullivan, Missouri, passed
away Thursday, September 7, 2000 at the age of 83 years.
Tahelma was born January 14, 1917 at High Gate, Missouri to to the late
Louie and Lula (Simpson) Spurgeon. As a young lady, she was baptized into
the Baptist faith at High Gate. She found pleasure in fishing and
gardening and especially cooking. Thelma was a Nurses Aide at Doctor’s
Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Missouri for twenty years. She enjoyed family
gatherings and did the cooking and provided the love and tenderness only a
mother could give.
She is survived by four daughters, Janet Venson of Sullivan, Jerris Kelley
of Sierra Visa, Arizona, Pat Parks of Davis, Oklahoma and Peggy Blogg of
Doniphan, Missouri, two sons, Johnny Reeves of Fenton, Missouri and Jim
Reeves of Belton, Missouri, one brother, George Spurgeon of Clarksville,
Tennessee, three sisters, Cema Garrison of Rolla, Missouri, Rozel Salts of
St. James, Missouri, and Genora Jost of Sullivan, 12 grandchildren, 10
great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Along with her parents
and husbands, Thelma was preceded in death by one son Jackie Armstrong,
four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were conducted 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2000 from
the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with her nephew Kenny Salts
officiating. Interment was in High Gate Cemetery, St. James, Missouri.

Timothy Dertow, age 55, of
Malvern, AR, formerly of Hammond, passed away on Tuesday, November 7,
2000.
Survived by his wife Sandy
(nee Quaife) Dertow; three children, Timothy
Roy (Alicia) Dertow of Benton, AR, Christy (Steve) McKinzie of Alvin, TX,
and Anna (Stan) Daigle of Alvin, TX; three stepchildren, Jamie, Sarah and
Amy; two sisters, Betty (late Melvin) Ramberg of Indianapolis, IN, Andy
(Cecil) Wright of Griffith; in-laws, Gene and Mickey Quaife of
Schererville; nine grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his
mother Mary Mohoi in 1996.
Funeral services will be
held on Monday, November 13, 2000 at 11 AM at the Kuiper Funeral Home
Chapel, with Rev. John Ionita officiating. Burial Memory Lane Cemetery,
Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday
2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Kuiper Funeral Home Chapel, 9039 Kleinman Road (2
block south of Ridge Road), Highland, IN. Wake service will be held Sunday
evening 7:30 PM.
Mr.
Dertow was a former member of New St. George Romanian Orthodox Church of
Lansing; Veteran of the US Air Force, Vietnam.
